It is the contact-reversal check. A short length of 2x4 lies flat on the floor in the middle of the opening and the door is closed from the wall button. When the bottom edge meets the wood, the door should halt and travel back up without help. Passing shows the opener's down-force and travel limits are set to back off from something solid. The technician never substitutes a hand or foot for the board.

Can you replace my rollers with quieter ones during the tune-up?

Often, yes, if you decide you want them and stock is on the truck. Nylon rollers with sealed bearings run noticeably quieter than plain steel rollers and need no lubricant. Rollers on the middle sections can be changed with the door clamped in the track; the bottom rollers sit in the bottom brackets, which hold spring tension, and are changed as part of a separate job. How do I lock the garage door during a power outage?

With the door closed, pull the opener's release cord so the trolley lets go of the door, then throw the slide bolt or turn the T-handle to lock. Keeping to that order is what protects the lock and the opener.

Do the rollers get replaced with the hinges?

They are checked every time and replaced when they need it. The roller stem sits in a tube on the edge hinge, so when that hinge comes off the roller is already in hand, and fitting a new one adds a minute. A wheel that is cracked, flat-spotted or grinding on its bearing is the sort of thing that strained the hinge, so leaving it would ask the new hinge to carry the same load.
